Impact Innovation

Supporting leaders to translate vision into impactful projects and enterprises | Partnerships for regeneration of local economies, communities and landscapes

Inspired by People & Place

For over a decade our work in connecting people in often disparate spheres across WA (community, environment, First Nations, social enterprise, business, startup, government, finance, impact investment) has led to some of the most tangible outcomes for the people and organisations we walk with.

Liminal connects leaders and organisations for impact-driven innovation, regeneration of communities and landscapes, and systems change. We work with partners on the development and execution of community ownership projects, including auspicing, investment and divestment strategies.

Why Liminal?

Community asset acquisition and divestment

We auspice, acquire, and operate community-owned assets and enterprises on behalf of communities that aren't yet investment-ready or grant-eligible, with a clear pathway to community ownership over time

Integrated, place-based approach

We treat regional enterprise development, community assets, and unlocking accommodation as inseparable, not as separate funding silos.

Deep networks | Regional experience

15 years working across every region of WA, from the Pilbara and Kimberley to the Wheatbelt, Great Southern, and Perth - and based in regional WA ourselves

Centering First Nations & Traditional Owner leadership

Prioritising projects with First Nations leadership from the outset, as decision-makers at the table, not consulted after the fact

Funding and investment partnerships for place-based impact

Nurturing relationships across philanthropy, government, and impact investors, and working with project partners on modelling, governance, stakeholder engagement, and deal execution

About Kylie & Sven

Kylie Hansen

Sven Stenvers

Over the past decade, we have worked as trusted allies across every region of Western Australia to support and finance social enterprises, impact investment vehicles, and place-based community-led initiatives, through strong partnerships.

As co-founders of Impact Seed, the WA Social Enterprise Council, Impact Investment WA Alliance, and Liminal Impact, our work has been recognised nationally: Kylie Hansen as a 2025 40under40 recipient, Board Director of the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR), Sven Stenvers a recipient of the Individual Outstanding Achievement Award at the 2020 Australian Impact Investment Awards, and in early 2025 Impact Seed as runner-up for Market Builder of the Year at the Impact Investment Awards.

Together, we have advised governments, philanthropy, and industry on social finance, policy, and measurement, and have led some of Australia’s earliest blended-finance and social investment partnerships.

We are entrepreneurial, relational, and collaborative – we know how to connect people and capital, seize opportunities, and get things done.

Having worked in highly diverse communities from the Pilbara, Kimberley, Wheatbelt, South West, Great Southern, and Perth, Western Australia, we are trusted across sectors and spheres.

With our complementary strengths – Kylie in strategy, policy, and systems innovation; Sven in business growth, finance, and ecosystem building – we support community leaders in translating vision into impactful projects.
